Gathering of Christian Converts Marking International Migrants Day
Christian converts held a gathering in Stockholm to mark International Migrants Day.
Participants noted that this day is observed while thousands of Christian converts have been forced to leave their homeland due to what they described as the lack of tolerance by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
They stated that Christian converts in Iran are deprived of fundamental civil, human, and religious rights. According to participants, rights such as employment, education, access to places of worship, and other basic freedoms have been restricted. They also said that many are arrested on security-related charges, sentenced to long prison terms, and in some cases accused of espionage, which they described as part of a systematic pattern of repression.
The participants further claimed that many individuals who are forced to leave Iran against their will continue to face difficulties and discrimination after migration in other countries as well, citing the situation of Christian converts in Turkey as an example.
On this day, they expressed hope that in the near future, the right to choose and change one’s religion would be respected for all Iranians within the country, so that such experiences would no longer occur either in Iran or after leaving it.
